Last year it was a floating castle off Ulleungdo. This time, Kian84 hauled his guesthouse up into the frozen mountains of Gangwon Province and built what the production is billing as “the world’s biggest guesthouse.” If you’ve already binged the first four episodes and want to know where the snowy “Branch 2” actually is (and whether you can go), here’s everything confirmed so far.

From Ulleungdo’s Sea to Daegwallyeong’s Snow
Season 1 (April 2025) had Kian84, BTS’s Jin, and Ji Ye-eun running a barge-style guesthouse moored at Hyeonpo Port on the north coast of Ulleungdo, in the middle of summer. For Season 2, the production flipped everything: new staff, a new season, and a new landscape.
Netflix describes the new location as “Kian’s Bizarre B&B Branch 2” in the freezing mountain passes of Daegwallyeong, per the MyDramaList synopsis. Korean press at the September 22 press conference described it as a deep mountain valley in Daegwallyeong, roughly 1,000 meters above sea level.
Kian84 summed up the difference at the press conference with a memorable line: Ulleungdo was “extreme boot camp,” while Daegwallyeong felt like “a two-star hotel,” according to Topstar News. He still admitted he “wanted to cry” more than once.

Where Exactly Is Daegwallyeong?
Daegwallyeong is a high mountain pass and plateau in Pyeongchang County, sitting on the Baekdudaegan ridge between inland Gangwon and the coastal city of Gangneung. It’s one of the coldest and snowiest places in South Korea, which is exactly why the show went there.
The official guest-recruitment notice, reposted by a Gangwon provincial support center in December 2025, confirms the stay took place in Daegwallyeong, Pyeongchang County, in February 2026, and that applications were open to anyone regardless of nationality, gender, or age.
The production has not published an exact address or the name of the land the set was built on. Some fans have pointed to the cattle visible around the set and guessed it sits on one of the area’s ranches, but no official source has named one, so treat any specific farm name you see online as a rumor for now.
Can you visit? Daegwallyeong itself, yes, absolutely. The guesthouse, no. Coverage of the show, including The Mac Observer, describes it as a controlled production property rather than a bookable hotel.
Inside “Branch 2”: The Giant’s House
Forget the rock-wall entrance and ocean slide from Season 1. This time Kian84 went with a giant’s house, a huge one-room apartment where everything is scaled up. The front door alone is about 5 meters tall, and every piece of furniture was custom-built oversized, reports Kukmin Ilbo. Korean outlet JKN says the concept was inspired by Gulliver’s Travels.
A few fun details from the press conference:
- Kian84 spent around a year on the concept and sketched roughly 10 ideas, including a flying house, a rolling house, and rooms hanging from trees, before permits and practicality won out.
- There’s an in-house “Kian84 karaoke room,” per Newspim.
- Kim Yeon-koung, who stands 192 cm tall, admitted she expected a giant-sized house to be comfortable for her. It wasn’t.
- Lee Junho said the stay was “healing and killing at the same time,” with bruises on his knees, hands, and feet.
PD Lee So-min said Kian84 insisted that if Season 2 didn’t top the first, it was better not to make it at all.

What the Guests Do in Daegwallyeong
The stay ran about nine to ten days of continuous operation. Beyond cooking and endless dishwashing, the winter setting shapes almost every activity. Reported highlights include ice fishing, a sauna, sledding in the snow, and late-night karaoke (Newspim). Kim Yeon-koung also gets a surprise birthday celebration on camera.
If those activities sound tempting, the good news is that they’re all very real things to do around Pyeongchang in winter.

Planning Your Own Daegwallyeong Winter Trip
You can’t check into Kian’s giant house, but you can easily recreate the vibe:
- Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm: Rolling snowy pastures and a short walking loop, one of the classic winter photo spots in the area.
- Samyang Ranch (Samyang Roundhill): A huge highland ranch with wind turbines and wide ridge views, popular in snow season.
- Yongpyong and Alpensia resorts: Skiing, sledding, and the venues from the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
- Daegwallyeong Snow Festival: Usually held in winter (typically January or February) with snow sculptures and sledding. Check the official dates each year before you go.
- Ice fishing: Pyeongchang’s trout festival, held on frozen streams in winter, is the easiest way to try it yourself.
Getting there: The KTX Gangneung Line runs from Seoul to Pyeongchang and Jinbu (Odaesan) stations in about 1.5 to 2 hours, and local taxis or buses cover the rest. Pack serious cold-weather gear; winter temperatures in the highlands regularly drop far below freezing.

Can you visit? Yes. All the spots above are open to the public in winter, though some ranches charge an entry fee and hours can change after heavy snow.
Bonus: Season 1’s Ulleungdo Locations
If Season 2 has you rewatching Season 1, the original barge B&B was moored at Hyeonpo Port on Ulleungdo’s north coast. The cast also visited the Buk-myeon coastal road (Elephant Rock and Seonnyeo Rock), Hakpo Port for snorkeling, Jeodong Port for fishing, and the Dokdo observatory cable car, according to the Korea Tourism Organization. Ferries to Ulleungdo leave from Pohang and a few other east-coast ports.
